        Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute (CPPRI) is a premier national level research organization dedicated for applied research in the field of pulp & paper science and technology. The Institute was established in the year 1980, and from a small Laboratory in 1980, it has grown into a national level research organization with the total manpower strength of 115 and the annual budget of about Rs.4.00 Crores(Old Data). The Institute is located behind Institute of Paper Technology (IPT) on Star Paper Mills Road, Saharanpur. The total area covered is about 49.00 Hectares with one Administrative block and two Laboratory blocks. The Institute has on of the best residential complexes with 69 residential quarters and guest house facilities. The main objective of the Institute is to promote the research & development and discovery connected with the pulp and paper industry. The Institute is equipped with sophisticated & modern facilities for carrying out the research on laboratory and pilot plant scale, and well trained scientific manpower. The Institute has developed 15 technologies so far, and 2 of them have been commercialized
The Institute is presently working on the following projects aimed at
Reduction of cost of production.
Improvement of the quality of paper and paper products.
Conservation of Energy, Chemicals and water during manufacturing process.
Last but not the least Environmental management in the pulp and paper industry.

        IPPTA, The Indian Pulp & Paper Technical Association, born in 1964, is a family of professionals from the Pulp & Paper, Newsprint and Allied industry. The first Seminar, conducted by IPPTA, was held in the Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 11th & 12th April, 1964.
        From inception IPPTA has dedicated itself as a forum for dissemination of information, exchange of ideas, helping in overall professional growth and creating awareness about the trends in the Paper Industry.
The noble aims of the Association are :-

Membership Profile
        From a modest start 36 years back. IPPTA has continuously grown with active support of the Technologists in the Paper & Allied Industries, Government Organisations, and today commands a membership of 2600. The members include Engineers, Technologists, Administrators, Scientists, and those who are directly or indirectly connected with the production, distribution & conversation of Pulp & Paper, Board, Newsprint, and also allied industries such as Machinery & Chemicals Suppliers.
Contribution to the Industry
        IPPTA also publishes quarterly journals containing technicals and Organizing National & Zonal Seminars/Workshops, in different parts of the country, on wide range of topics, is a major activity of IPPTA. These Seminars provide an opportunity to the participants to learn about the latest developments from the experts and enable members develop personal contacts with their peers in the Industry. IPPTA regularly conducts seminars on Energy Conservation, Resource optimizations, and Environment Management, matters of concern to the society. These Seminars have proven to be very successful, leading to many useful conclusions, which have benefited the Industry, Government and other concerned in formulating policy, strategies & plans for improving the overall performance of the Paper Industry.
        Other related articles from authors in India and abroad. Journals & Periodicals from a number of International Associations of Paper Industry are received by IPPTA. These articles are available to its members on request. A modern Document Centre is being established to provide quick & effective service to its Members.
 Saharanpur Campus, formerly known as the School of Paper Technology was established by the Government of India in 1964, with an aid from the Royal Swedish Government. This School was managed by a Society created by U.P. Government until its merger with the then University of Roorkee in 1978. Saharanpur Campus is well planned and developing Campus acquiring 25 acres of land with the distance of around 50 kms from the Roorkee campus. The Saharanpur campus has three departments viz. Department of Paper Technology, Department of Polymer and Process engineering and Department of Applied Sciences and Engineering on March 1, 2012.to know more click here

B.Tech (Pulp & Paper) 4 Years 10+2
        Company Garden Saharanpur is one of the many institutions which was established around the mughal times. According to the District Gazetteer Intazam-Ud-Ullah was the first founder of this Garden. After remaining in the control of Marathas it was acquired by East India Company by the end of 1817 and was headed by District Surgeon. In the initial years main emphasis was laid in the developement of medicinal and eco-friendly plants and herbs. Various Section are carring out different important tasks within this centre prominent among which are Horticulture section, Cold Storage Section, Chemical Section, Biochemical and Radio Tracer Section, Fruit Preservation Section and Micro Biology Section etc. All these section are carring out commendable research work on the developement of horticulture and floriculture in saharanpur.
        After independence Post and Telegraph department felt the need of a centre where the employees of its department could receive proper training for the smooth functioning of the P & T Department. As a consequence of great efforts and active leadership of the then Transport, Civil aviation and Communication minister Shri Rafi Ahmad Kidwai P & T training Centre was established in Saharanpur in April 1951. This Centre was established keeping in view the following objectives :-
To impart knowledge for improving the efficiency of its employees.
Information about the changing role of public servants.
To make them aware of their role in the new environment.
To create awareness about service and accountability.
        Among the various training courses being carried out by the centre are Induction Training (for Postal Assistance, Sorting Assistance, Signallers, Inspectors of post offices, Post Masters etc) and In Service Training (for lower Selection Grade Supervisors saving banks, postal assistants, PSS group B Officers etc)
        This centre was established at Muzaffarbad in 1956. It is carring out prominent work in the field of Agronomy, Crop Sciences and Land Information, Soil Testing, Testings of Deficiency in soil and fertilisers and providing information and suggestions about type of crop to be sown. This Centre has a weather observatory, Soil Laboratary, Exhibition Section and well equipped library.
