Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple, Saharanpur
Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple is a famous and highly revered Shiva temple and is considered one of the five Siddhapeeths of Saharanpur.
The temple was constructed during the Maratha period and later became a place of penance for ascetics belonging to the Juna Akhara for a certain period. At present, various religious activities and events are organized here under the supervision of the local management committee.
The temple attracts a large number of devotees, especially during the festival of Mahashivratri, when huge crowds gather to seek blessings of Lord Shiva. During the holy month of Shravan, Kanwariyas bring sacred water from Haridwar and perform Jalabhishek of Bhuteshwar Mahadev.
It is believed that by offering water to this self-manifested (Swayambhu) Shivling with devotion for 40 consecutive days, all wishes of devotees are fulfilled.
